Sunday Sermon May 31

“The Choice” is the second sermon of a series out of Joshua called, “Farewells & Fresh Starts.” It is also my final sermon as the pastor of Anaheim Baptist Fellowship. I love you folks and will miss you. This sermon, longer than most, is made even longer by a sermon excerpt by Billy Graham. But it’s good stuff! I hope you are enriched and inspired.

ZOOM IN on WEDNESDAY

RON REMINISCES: Join us for a time of fellowship and a trip down memory lane. We will have a Zoom Room at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27. Attend using your computer, tablet, or phone. Here is your link:

And then don’t forget to come back here on Sunday for Ron’s final sermon for Anaheim Baptist Fellowship. He will be joined by Billy Graham. The video by Ron is new. Billy’s is rather dated — but still great!

Sunday Sermon May 24

“The Challenge” is the first of two messages in a short series called, “Farewells & Fresh Starts.” It is based primarily on Joshua 1. Next week, we will study the last two chapters in Joshua in a sermon called “The Choice.” These are my last two sermons before I leave the wonderful people at Anaheim Baptist Fellowship.

ABF Church Service 5/17

At our 5/17 Zoom Church service this morning, we had a great time of fellowship and a study of the Great Commission and the Glorious Ascension. We had some glitches but it was still a terrific get-together.

The video below is a speaker’s view, meaning it only shows Pastor Ron. But in the actual ZOOM ROOM, we saw and chatted with each other. After the sermon, we fellowshipped for 20 to 30 minutes. How fun!

Sunday Service 5/17

Dear ABF Family,

I hope to see you at church tomorrow (5/17)!

We are once again going to have our 10 AM church service on ZOOM. It is amazing to me how many Non-Tecky people have been able use this easy platform and join us. You can get on Zoom with your computer, tablet or phone. You can be on camera or off camera. You can speak or mute yourself. How you participate is up to you. Zoom is not difficult. But just to make it even easier, I am going to direct you to this YouTube how-to video: https://youtu.be/9isp3qPeQ0E

This will be our last Sunday morning zoom service together. During my final two weeks, I will be placing videos on our website and Facebook pages.

Tomorrow we finish up our study on the Life of Christ. I call the sermon, “The Finale.” It will concentrate on the Great Commission and the Glorious Ascension.

Then on the following Sunday, we will begin a two-week series called “Farewells & Fresh Starts,” The two sermons, based on the life of Joshua, are called “The Challenge” (5/24) and “The Choice” (5/31). In that last sermon, even Billy Graham will show up!

But wait, there’s more! (I stole that line from a commercial) I have also added some Bonus Sermons on the website (www.abf.life). There are about five sermons from my favorite preacher, my brother Jerry. So you can watch them any time.

HERE IS YOUR OFFICIAL INVITE to our Zoom Church service. Just click this link on Sunday and follow the directions:

Bonus Sermons

During this time when many are self-quarantining and we aren’t able to hold multiple services at the church building, you may want to spend more time hearing messages from God’s Word. On this site, you will find several sermons from me (Pastor Ron Sheveland), but I thought you might also enjoy some from my favorite preacher, my brother, Dr. Jerry Sheveland.

So, if you go up to the tabs, you will find one called “Sermons.” Click it and under it, you will find one called “Bonus Sermons.” And that is where you will find messages from my big brother.

Sermon by Luke Sheveland

This is Ron Sheveland, the current pastor of Anaheim Baptist Church. I say “current” because I will only be the pastor until the end of May. In June I will become the Interim Pastor of a church in Michigan.

A couple of weeks ago I announced my resignation at the conclusion of a sermon. Frankly, that was hard to do. But the people have all been very gracious.

What do you say when you are leaving a church. Well, the sermon below provides a sermon by my son Luke as he resigned from his church a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was a good sermon so I thought I would share it with you, too. Here’s Luke!

Mothers’s Day Church Service

Dear ABF Attenders,

Please join us for our Mothers’ Day Church Service, this Sunday, May 10 at 10 AM. Once again, we will be on an Internet platform called Zoom. You can participate with your computer, phone, or tablet. Just copy and paste the following link and follow the simple directions:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81508117495

There will be music, a message and a time to fellowship together. In addition, mothers get a free Mother’s Day gift. It is a fun eBook filled with “Mom Jokes” (Just click the words Mom Jokes to download) designed to lighten your day and fill your heart with laughter. Even you non-moms can get one, too.

Free eBook

As you know, Jodi and I are resigning at the end of the month of May. So, if you have any questions, you can ask them at the end of the service during the fellowship time. Or you can always email (revshev@aol.com) or call us (909-677-9022). The Trustees are already planning the next steps for the church, so everything is right on course.

Enjoy God!

Pastor Ron Sheveland

Pastor Ron Resigns

Dear ABF Family,

Jodi and I believe that God has led us to make a transition. So, I am announcing my resignation from Anaheim Baptist Fellowship. My last sermon will be May 31.

This move is not prompted by any problems in the church. In fact, I think the unity we have now is better than any time since I arrived about four years ago. I truly treasure everyone in the church and am so grateful you have allowed me to be your pastor. We will look back at our time with you with appreciation and fondness.

Anaheim Baptist Fellowship is a wonderful church that is marked by a deep love for God, for others and for the Bible. I anticipate that God will give you a new pastor who will lead you into a great next chapter.

Jodi and I decided a while back that when we retired, it would probably be back in our home state of Michigan where her family all is and where my sister and her husband also live. Besides the kin connections, the cost of living is much less expensive, allowing our retirement funds to stretch.

But, although I am retiring as a senior pastor, I am not ready to cease doing ministry. So, when I received an invitation to become the interim pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Webberville, Michigan, it felt that God was telling us that this was the time and manner to make our move.

Next Sunday we will have another Zoom Worship Service at 10 AM (MOTHERS DAY!). At the conclusion, I will open it up for any questions that you may want to ask Jodi or me.

I have already informed the Trustees of my decision and will be offering suggestions on the strategic decisions they will need to make. After that, I will bow out of the process and let you and them determine, with Christ’s direction, your future course of action.

I would have preferred to make this announcement in person, but the restrictions made by the Covid crisis didn’t allow for that option. So, I did the next best thing possible; I announced it at our Zoom hosted church service this past Sunday. In these coming days, we welcome conversations by phone or the internet. I love you and am positive that God will guard, guide, and bless you.

Yours in Christ,

Ron Sheveland,Pastor, Anaheim Baptist Fellowship
